Things to Do When you Move into Your New House

Moving house is such a stressful time and there is a lot to remember to do to ensure that it all goes without a hitch! Often it is easy to forget some of these things and it is only with hindsight that you realise they would have made the moving process much easier! If you are going to be moving soon, here are a few things that you should do when you move into your new home.

Home security is important, so when you move into a new home it is a good idea to have all of the locks changed, as you never know who has a copy of the key to the front door. As well as the locks on the doors, don’t forget the windows too. You could also look into getting a home alarm system installed or something like a Ring doorbell to make sure that your home is safe and secure right from the beginning.

Get to know the neighbours as soon as you can when you move in. Not only does this get you off to a good start but they will have lived there longer so may be able to give you some information about the areas, as well as advice about things in the home, especially if their homes are of a similar or the same layout and design to yours. Good neighbourly relations are important, so be friendly and introduce yourself, and you will find that this will really help you to settle in well.

Make sure that you have all the things that you need sorted out before you move – for example, if you need to have things like a television aerial installed, contact a company such as this TV aerial installation Bristol based company https://aerial-installations-bristol.co.uk/installation-and-repair-services/tv-aerial-installation-bristol/ as soon as you know your moving in day and get it booked in. If you wait until you have moved you may find you have to wait a while, so anything like television or internet where you need it done by a professional is best to have pre-arranged before you actually move.

When you first move in, hopefully the house is in good order, but it is still a good time to give it a good clean! This means that when you get everything unpacked you are already in a nice clean home, and you won’t have to then go around cleaning it too much. You might even want to get some professional cleaners in on moving day to give it a good going over.

Before you start to unpack everything, take some time to decide what is going to go in which room. Doing this will make the unpacking process much easier and you can place the boxes and the furniture straight into the room it is going into which will speed up the unpacking process a lot!
